Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me. One of the fun things about being a pirate is searching for buried treasure. Enjoy these links and have fun searching for the treasure.

2. NBC's Treasure Hunters

4. Superman
(Not treasure, but hopefully they come out with one for Pirates of the Caribbean)

Ashlie

My niece has been visiting us and is very active. As you can see from the pictures, she loves to be outside. She told me if she didn't have a bike for the two weeks she was here, she would die. Thanks to the Junkerts for saving my niece's life.

Friday fun links and other stuff

1. Since I have been reading, here is a book I have put on my short list to check out.

Pearls Before Swine

For the next two weeks, our niece Ashlie is here. She got in late Tuesday night and yesterday she had to spend most of the morning with me at the office. Some time during my day I read some, and just happened to be reading the book mentioned in the last post. She asked if I could play with her and I said that I was working. She said I must be done because I was reading a book. I told her that part of my job involves reading books. She said that was unfair because she could only read books for fun and during school only gets fifteen minutes to read.
Nichole and I have also started a new hobby of "puzzling." Our niece helped us discover that we both like to do puzzles. Here is day one and day two. There is also a picture of the rhododendron in our backyard, Washington's state flower.

Book thoughts

Last year, one of my goals was to read eight books and I read nine. This year I have already read eleven. It is good to set goals, especially when they become a part of you.
I am currently reading "The Last Christian Generation" by Josh McDowell. It is about how Christians need to "rebuild the crumbling foundations of the true faith to raise up a new generation of Christ followers." I am about three chapters in and so far it is very good.
This quote so far has been the most meaningful to me.

"Transformation is a supernatural experience resulting from God as our redeemer responding to us crying out in faith:
I want to know you, O God, but I'm hopelessly lost in sin and in need of your forgiveness. I place my trust in the sacrificial death of your Son who nailed my sins to his cross. Forgive me and transform me from the inside out - from a person dead in sin into a new person alive in intimate relationship with you."

Sunday Night Party

Today marked the first win of the CCBC softball season. We won 17-4! Our team played great defense, had solid hitting and had a great time. I had a triple, a homerun and a double. I would have had two homers, but missed third coming around on the first big hit. Nichole, our team's pitcher, struck out six people and also caught three infield flies. We celebrated at DQ afterwards with blizzards.
This week our niece, Ashlie, comes to visit for a few weeks. Come back often to see pics of our adventures. I will also snap some pics of our new truck.

I forgot Friday fun links. So here are two interesting sites I came across this week.

1. For this first one, just move the square around and click your mouse.

2. If you have cds you aren't listening to any more, or want some cds that are hard to find at a great price, check out this sweet site. Disclaimer: Please delete the cds you trade off of your iPod.

Friday fun links

Not very many fun links today. Nichole and I have had a busy week:
-we sold our little, red Neon
-our best friends from Texas, the Bauslaugh's, came and visited.
-Nichole had some CareNet presentations
-I evaluated senior projects at a local high school
-Nichole has guards this weekend
-I am preaching on Sunday. My preparation for preaching is going well, but please pray that God's message is communicated clearly and effectively.

I have been accused of being this, so here is a fun link for all of you who are responsible stewards of God's creation.

Market and mates

This Memorial weekend, our friends from Portland, Jon, Jill and Raegan Putz are visiting. We got up early, had breakfast and went to the Puyallup Farmers' Market. Be sure to get a pretzel stick from the German baker if you ever make it to the market.
This afternoon we had a scare with Raegan, Jon and Jills' 2 year old. We never shut the door to our walk in closet, but in order for Raegan to sleep in the dark, we put her bed in there. Little did we know that the door was locked and we didn't have the key. After much hacking, drilling and bending, I decided to put my foot down, or out as the case would be. I kicked the door in to save the day.
The Putz' just got a new blog today, so be sure to check it out.

Friday fun links

I have three fun links for you today. However, before I get to those, I just wanted to let you know about a book I read this past week. All of you don't know this, but I have a blog watchdog. Dictionary.com defines a watchdog as, "One who serves as a guardian or protector against waste, loss, or illegal practices." Someone out there is keeping me accountable to have content that is God-honoring. This person let me know a few weeks ago that he/she had checked into Chuck Norris. This person thought Carlos (Chuck's real name) might be new age, but read his biography and he is a Christian. I read the book this past week and thoroughly enjoyed it. If you need a fun, easy autobiographical read, check out "Against All Odds," by Chuck Norris. Don't bother asking who the watchdog is, because I won't tell you.

Life with the Grubers

It has been a pretty crazy week. It started off on Sunday with our first softball game of the season. We played well but lost in the bottom of the last inning. I think we just got lazy and did not keep our heads in the game. We always go for dipped cones after the games, so some of us may have already had the sweet taste of chocolate and ice cream in our heads. Here is a pic of me and some adoring fans.

At home on Sunday we found out that it was a very high probability that my little sister, Leah and her husband Ben, would be moving to Seattle. Nichole and I could hardly contain our excitement. This dream has come true and July 17, my brother-in-law starts at SPU as an academic advisor.
We also decided to paint some walls in our living room. Nichole and I are slowly learning that house projects always take longer than expected. I began this project Wednesday after work and we did our best "Extreme Home Makeover" impersonation at 6:00 pm on Friday night when the youth kids were set to start arriving at 7:00. Nichole was yelling just like Ty, "They're going to be here in an hour, let's get moving." I think I did a pretty good job painting, here are some before and after pics and no, there are not any hidden messages in my painting.

Staff Party

Every couple months we try to have a staff party. Last night we played "Whonu" at Gordie and Sandy Bauslaugh's house. Nichole and I had a great time hanging out with the other staff sans work.

Disclaimer: In the Spring of 2003, Vintage21 had a four week series on Jesus Christ, taking a deep look at what He said and did. It was difficult at times to get past our preconceived notions that had been developed by staunch, starched Sunday School classes of old. This is a satirical look at what some people think Jesus is like. Thank goodness He's not. There are no swears, or indecent things, the voices in the video are dubbed, and I don't think we would have been created with senses of humor if God didn't want things like this to happen. If you want to know who Jesus really is, please contact me via my profile, because I would love to share with you what he is really like.

Practical Joke

I wish I would have recorded this on my Treo, but I wasn't quick enough.  Yesterday I put together a plastic toy box/bench for Bobbie Marcy, the Children's Director at CCBC.  Nichole got in it and then we called John Golling, the other associate pastor, out to have a look at it.  When he opened to look inside, Nichole screamed.  He jumped and it was very funny.  Who said being a pastor wasn't fun.

Ministry Assistant's Day

Nichole and I had a good time at the Couples' conference, but had to leave early because I have been sick the past week. We had church and then YAM in the afternoon on Sunday. I am not going to tell you about the cool activity we did at YAM, because we may do it on a Sunday morning for "big" church.
Yesterday we celebrated Administrative Professional's day with an Atrium lunch catered by The Oasis courtesy of Pastor Gordie.

Easter

Nichole's parents have been with us for the past week and yesterday Nichole and Pat made an Easter feast fit for royalty. We had turkey, ham, mashed potatos, green bean casserole, corn, two kinds of gravy and fruit salad. It was delicious. We also dog-sat Bridger Gibson. Of course Nichole loved it and it just makes her want to get a dog even more.

Friday fun links

It is about half an hour early for me, but some of you out there are already in Friday and I wanted to make sure you have a chance to visit all the links.
Nichole's parents are here this week. I am going to Portland with Dale on Saturday to do a survey with him. Nichole has worked alot this week, but is excited to be at her new job. We are going to be having both turkey and ham on Easter. Yay meat!

Opening Day

This past Monday was opening day for the Mariners. I surprised Nichole with tickets to the game. We had trouble find a parking spot, but enjoyed the game. Our seats were great, thanks securing them for us Cindy Junkert. The Mariner's are off to a great start and until yesterday, their only loss was the game we were at. Nichole loves going to baseball games and we hope to go to more games this season.
